The Fantastic Film Festival returns to Sydney and Melbourne in May for its fifth edition, offering a cross-section of cult, genre, arthouse, and alternative cinema across 24 feature films and 14 short films.

The festival will open with a bang with the Australian premiere of Kiah Roache-Turner’s Sting, with the director to participate in a Q&A following the screening.

Other highlights include a 4K restoration of Gareth Evans 2011 Indonesian action thriller The Raid, and a 30th anniversary screening of action romance Metal Skin featuring a Q&A with director Geoffrey Wright, as well as line-up of new releases that includes Luc Besson’s Dogman, Adrien Beau’s The Vourdalak, Eddie Alcazar’s Divinity, and Steffen Haars and Flip Van der Kuil’s Krazy House. A 15th anniversary screening of Gaspar Noé’s Enter the Void, accompanied by an original live score from Sydney-based electronic artist Corin.

The festival will also incorporate an array of special events, such as a nude screening of the comedy The Naked Gun.
