Crossover announces international mentors

Final International Mentors announced

Sandi DuBowski and Margaret Robertson, two leading international practitioners from the film and gaming sectors have been confirmed as the final mentors for CROSSOVER AUSTRALIA 2009.

Sandi DuBowski is an acclaimed American director and producer, currently working on the Barack Obama campaign. Best known for his work on homosexuality and religion, DuBowski directed the 2001 documentary Trembling Before G-d and is the producer of Parvez Sharma’s documentary A Jihad for Love (formerly known as In the Name of Allah) (2007).

Margaret Robertson is a videogame consultant running her own consultancy business, Lookspring with clients including EA, Sony, and a number of independent game companies. She is also a writer for many specialist games magazines, has a regular column which runs on the BBC news website, has mentored for Dare To Be Digital, the largest student game-making programme in Europe, serves as a juror for the BAFTA videogame awards, and for IndieCade and the Independent Gaming Festival. Margaret is an advisory board member for Screenburn at SXSW and lectures on games around the world.

Education
Leading the Crossover laboratory is Frank Boyd, former Director of Creative Development with the BBC’s Innovation and Learning Team, currently working with Creative London. Already announced are mentors Matt Adams, co-founder of Blast Theory and Heather Croall, Director of the Sheffield DocFest..

Crossover Australia is a 5-day interactive, residential workshop designed to brainstorm cross-platform models and projects. It will take place at McLaren on the Lake and follows 2007’s highly successful CROSSOVER which was also led by Frank Boyd. Participation for the 20 successful applicants is FREE.
