ACMI is calling for entries for its First Nations Welcome Installation, a $20,000 artist commission.

The installation will welcome visitors into ACMI’s Flinders Street foyer and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land that ACMI is situated on – the Wurundjeri people of the Eastern Kulin Nation and their connection to the lands, waters and skies. It may consist of video, sound, animation or a combination of these formats, and should prompt visitors to think about First Nations culture, the lands on which ACMI is located and First Nations connection to country.

Proposals which are poetic, out of the box and have a strong connection to screen culture, the moving image and interactive media are encouraged.

Applications are open to emerging, mid-career or established First Nations artists with artist collectives and joint collaborators also welcome to apply.
