Castlemaine Documentary Festival (C-Doc) has announced its 2023 program, bringing a selection of eight Australian and international feature-length films, along with panel discussions and conversations.

Several Australian films will premiere at the festival including Trained To See – 3 Women and the War, Equal the Contest, The Thief Collector and Weed & Wine.

The festival’s closing night will see be early silent film GRASS – made in 1925 – accompanied by ZÖJ, a Ballarat musical duo consisting of Iranian-born musician, vocalist and composer Gelareh Pour and percussionist Brian O’Dwyer. ZÖJ will perform their composition live on stage at the Theatre Royal as the film plays.

This year C-Doc is also introducing a second venue – The Yurt – a mirco-cinema located in easy walking distance from The Theatre Royal. The Yurt features an alternative program of family-friend sessions across the Saturday and Sunday mornings and enticing programs for young people in the afternoons and evenings. It will also host an immersive interactive parlour game Werewolves.
