Sony’s annual short film festival, Catchlight Film Festival will return for 2023. 

The festival is for filmmakers of all levels, from amateurs to industry veterans, who wish to showcase their talent and demonstrate how they use the Sony system to capture their stories. The judges for this year’s festival are cinematographer Stefan Duscio ACS, and directors Gracie Otto and Yolanda Ramke.

In 2023, the Catchlight Film Festival includes four categories: Fiction (scripted), Non-Fiction (documentary), Student Fiction and Music Video.

Eligible films for the Catchlight Film Festival must be predominately shot using a Sony camera and there are no restrictions based on date of production.

Judging will commence on Monday, 26 June, with all finalists notified from Monday, 31 July 2023.

In partnership with sister companies Sony Pictures Releasing and Sony Music, each category-winning film will be awarded with a unique experience specific to that category as well as a prize package of Sony digital imaging products. In addition, thanks to partners at Atomos, Lemac, VA Hire and Videocraft, special laurel awards will be presented that highlight exceptional cinematography, as well as the skillful use of Sony’s native lens range, each with a prize attached.
