Croatia House will present 4th annual Croatian Film Festival at the Riverside Theatres Parramatta from September 7-11 September and also for the first time at Adelaide’s Regal Theatre, Kensington Park from October 7-9.

The event has grown significantly over the past four years, from featuring three classic films at its inaugural festival in 2019, to five days of Croatian cinema with six feature films and three short films this year.

This year’s opening night feature film is Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic’s Murina, executive produced by Martin Scorsese. The film won the Caméra d’Or at Cannes Film Festival 2021 for Best First Feature.

Also of note is Peter Pecotić’s Countryman, a documentary that follows a 10,000km journey where Indigenous and immigrant Australian stories converge. The film took two years to produce, and was shot with a campervan, drone, and a smartphone during COVID, covering a solo odyssey around Northern Australia and the subsequent chain of events that it triggered.
