Documentary Australia is teaming up with Petersham’s Greenhouse Studios for a night of performance, cinema and storytelling.

To be held on March 24, Unravel will feature live performances by Mel Ree and Anna Yen, followed by a screening and discussion of Mitzi Goldman’s 2002 feature film Chinese Take Away.

The 52-minute film is adaptation of a physical theatre show that blends poetic storytelling, drama, and archival footage, to bring a true story to the screen.

Performer/writer Anna Yen, in seeking to understand a family tragedy, unravels stories about her grandmother, her mother, and herself.

The audience is taken from China in the early 1900s, through Hong Kong in the 30s, suburban Sydney in the 60s, and into the present day.

As part of the event, Yen and Goldman will discuss trust and collaboration, reflecting on what has and hasn’t changed in the 20 years since the film was made

Tickets are sliding scale $15 (unwaged) -$20 (waged) // $20 ticket includes 1 x glass of shiraz on arrival.
