Female-centric streaming service Femflix has launched an online short film festival which will focus on promoting and celebrating new, emerging, and exciting voices from Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

Femflix Film Festival will be a quarterly showcase and competition screening the best stories made by women and female-identifying filmmakers. Submissions are now open for short films (narrative or factual) from all around the globe, with the festival offering awards in various categories including Best Director, Best of Festival and Best Student Film along with a range of craft-related awards.

Officially selected titles have the opportunity to gain a non-exclusive license agreement to stream and earn revenue for a 3-month window on Femflix streaming service, currently geo-locked to Australia and New Zealand.

Regular submissions close August 8, and late submissions August 31.

The festival officially begins October 1.
