Ritz Cinemas in Randwick has announced a This Is Celluloid retrospective, featuring a lineup of 35mm and 70mm screenings every Friday night from 10 March to showcase cinematic triumphs from the 1920s to the present day across almost 40 weeks.

The program kicks off with a 35mm screening of Michael Mann’s modern crime masterpiece Heat on Friday 10 March.

Other highlights include a special 35mm marathon presentation of George Lucas’s Star Wars Saga, featuring six films from the original and prequel trilogies on Friday, May 19, running overnight, plus an Alien (35mm) & Aliens (70mm) double feature and Kill Bill 35mm double feature.

70mm screenings include The Master, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Right Stuff and Titanic. The program also includes rare print screenings of arthouse classics like In the Mood for Love, Seven Samurai, The 400 Blows, Metropolis and Paris is Burning.
