Press release from Fearnace Media
Nine months of intensive planning and preparation culminate this week when Global Television delivers Australia’s largest outside broadcast (OB) event of the year: the biennial Presidents Cup in High Definition.
Global Television will facilitate four exciting days of PGA action from Royal Melbourne Golf Club on behalf of clients the Nine Network Australia, NBC Sports Group, PGA TOUR Entertainment and Japan’s Jupiter Telecommunications.
The event will be televised in Australia on the Nine Network and FOX Sports and to a worldwide television audience. Global Television is providing its HD1, HD2, HD3 and HD4 High Definition OB supertrucks and also two portable fly-away kits.
42 High Definition cameras will capture every shot in 34 matches over four days of play (17-20 November). The Global Television team spent the weekend on the ground laying more than 25 kilometres of cabling and setting up the infrastructure for this enormous event.
Global’s team of 20 broadcast technical experts is complemented by nearly 60 experienced Australian freelancers.
Geoff Sparke, Director of Broadcast Operations for the Nine Network, said: “Nine are delighted to be once again partnered with Global Television on such a prestigious event.”
Global Television CEO Keith Andrews said: “This project has been in the planning and preparation for nine months, an indication of the size and complexity of the Presidents Cup.
“Events of this scale are Global Television’s forte, and we are privileged to work alongside the Nine Network, NBC Sports, PGA TOUR Entertainment and Jupiter to deliver Australia’s largest OB of 2011 in High Definition.”
The Presidents Cup is among the most anticipated and keenly followed events on the PGA TOUR. Every two years 24 top players – 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe – engage in four days of team match-play competition. In 2011, the ninth Presidents Cup, Greg Norman will captain the International team and Fred Couples the United States team.
