Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop will visit New York, Washington and Los Angeles from 21 to 31 January for the 2016 G’Day USA program.
The last leg of the tour will be LA, where Bishop will meet business leaders from the film and television industry in between foreign policy engagements and attend the G’Day USA Los Angeles Gala.
The Gala on January 28 will honour George Miller with a Lifetime Achievement award "in recognition of the screenwriter, director and producer's outstanding contribution to the Australian creative arts sector and acclaimed global success, including through the Mad Max franchise".
While Joel Edgerton will be honoured with the Excellence in Film award, "in recognition of his success as a writer, actor and director, most recently with The Gift.
