The Jammed has been confirmed as the highest grossing
weekly opening screen average for an independent Australian film and fourth
highest for all Australian films on record after Lantana, Crocodile
Dundee I and II.
Three weeks before the film nearly slipped straight to DVD, the
producers in conjunction with Titan View managed to secure just one screen at
Cinema Nova in Melbourne without a marketing budget.
Following David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz’s At The Movies review
and Jim Schembri’s article in The Age – the movie clearly has found an
audience.
Inspired by actual events on sex trafficking in Melbourne – the relevance of
the story has resonated with packed houses.
This untold story – an unflinching Aussie thriller’ (Variety) is going
national on the 30th of August with advance screenings in Sydney on the
weekend.
