14th Annual AIMIA Award Winners announced

Australia’s peak industry body for digital and interactive content, the
Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA), has honoured
the winners of its 14th annual AIMIA Awards at a glitzy ceremony held at Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art.

Host Adam Spencer kept the crowd entertained and the evening did not disappoint, with a sell-out audience of 700 members and guests.

Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications the Digital Economy, addressed the industry before presenting one of the Amys, as these awards are known.

AIMIA president Guy Gadney used his speech to officially launch the AIMIA Innovates program (see separate media release issued March 6.)

‘Numerous studies are showing the contribution that Australia’s digital content creators are making to our economy and what they could achieve with the appropriate support,’ said AIMIA CEO John Butterworth. ‘The outstanding quality of our award winners has the affect of taking those numbers and bringing them to life. What was seen was awe-inspiring creativity and flawless execution across all forms of digital content and in every part of Australian business and society. It gives us a taste of our nation’s future as one of the world’s leading producers of digital content.’

A judging panel of over 120 Australian and international experts from across the interactive media spectrum were given the significant task of selecting award winners from a high calibre of finalists, ranging from small businesses to larger, well-established organisations.

Supporters of AIMIA include Gold Patron BigPond, Silver Patrons IBM, I-Nex Corporation, Hill & Knowlton, Hyro, Intel, KPMG, Microsoft, TressCox and Vividas, Media Partner Digital Media magazine, Bronze Patrons Adobe, CeBit and Viocorp and Awards Category Sponsors LaVolta, Macquarie Telecom, MEGA, New South Wales Department of State & Regional Development, Tourism New South Wales and Tribal Fusion.
