Seasoned film and TV producer Neal Kingston has acquired Australia’s newest post-production facility on the East Coast.
Nestled in the heart of Queensland’s screen industry corridor in Brisbane and in close proximity to Disney Studios in Sydney, Gabba Post offer not only facilities but connections with affiliated screen professionals and visual effects facilities throughout the world.
“We’ve created a facility and service with the leading design artists from around the globe, to offer a tailored post-production package and experience,” said Gabba Post CEO Neal Kingston.
Kingston, a seasoned international TV and feature film producer finalised the acquisition of the studio in early May. Brisbane’s new facility is located in the heritage listed Goodyear Building in Woolloongabba.
With the ethos that “Post starts in Pre” Australia’s newest post-production facility, Gabba Post, provides a bespoke service that aims to maximise every dollar available for production. With offices in central Brisbane and Sydney, the new post-production facilities supply post for TV, advertising and feature films including digital rushes, on-set dailies, offline and online editorial, digital intermediate creation and colour grading, VFX production and supervision, full sound post, and digital deliveries in all formats for final distribution.
Gabba Post was conceived to build a bridge between services and artists, meeting particular projects’ needs and has secured the ongoing tenure of respected and renowned television and VFX director/post production producer David Napier and the consultancy of international VFX professional Emma Clifton-Perry.
“With a combination of decades of film and television experience in post-production and an impressive VFX supervision pedigree, Gabba Post can offer services from proof of concept through to the final sign off,” says Gabba Post, head of post-production, David Napier.
“As filmmakers striving for the optimum results for the viewing public, and who understand the limits of budgets and time, we aim to work collaboratively with our specialist team to meet the needs of our clients no matter how bespoke or exceptional.”
VFX consultant and supervisor Emma Clifton-Perry is a former Weta Workshop VFX specialist and
serves on the global Board of Directors of the Visual Effects Society. Her professional credits
include work on Australia, Happy Feet 2, The Hobbit Series and Deadpool 2.
“Our flexible VFX approach aims to tackle the barriers faced by independent productions. Harnessing my almost two decades in high budget VFX blockbusters and independent films, Gabba can help any budget savvy EP with their VFX needs at any stage in production, from script to
screen,” Clifton-Perry said.
Through the industry disruption of Unreal Engine, Gabba Post offers pre-vizualisation services to fold into the final VFX workflow. Their partnership with Hold Fast Public Relations also provides a publicity, on-set stills, EPK and marketing service package, as well as a deliverables service to take the pain away from producers wanting to move onto the next project.
“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Gabba Post. Their experience and outreach, allows Hold Fast PR to offer a truly professional package formerly outside the budget and realm of most independent films,” said Hold Fast Public Relations founder Thomas Pitts.
Gabba Post head of client services and former script department manager at Home & Away, Oliver Keefe said: “Through the extensive knowledge of the film makers at Gabba Post, and our processes in place, we aim to remove the monotony of the day-to-day deliverable follow up, and make film making more fun. Move onto your next project and we’ll take care of the rest.”
Arclight Films represented the studio’s first road test with post-production on Mercy Road.
“Mercy Road was a complex post-production task involving extensive VFX conforming and colour
grading and the team at Gabba Post delivered exceptional results,” said Arclight Films division Easternlight Films, managing director, Ying Ye.
