An Australian student film has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival's Short Cuts program.
The short film Deszcz (Rain) was written and directed by AFTRS student, Malina Mackiewicz, in the last year of her studies.
The Toronto showing will be the film's world premiere and follows the premiere of Mackiewicz' previous AFTRS student film, Driftwood Dustmites.
Mackiewicz' key creatives on Deszcz were also AFTRS students including Milica Gligorevic (Producing), Benjamin Cotgrove (Cinematography), Rolando Olalia (Editing), Elsie Moult (Production Design) and Ellie Cumming (Screen Music).
AFTRS acting chief executive, Ann Browne, said every one at AFTRS was very proud.
"To have her films selected for both Berlin and Toronto is a stunning achievement for her and her creative teams,” she said.
