The program will be also be available through Virgin Australia lounges across summer, enabling all Velocity Frequent Flyer members to watch the  films.

For the 2016 festival, Flickerfest received over 2000 entries with more than 650 of those from Australian filmmakers.

Virgin Australia general manager marketing, Michael Scott, said, the Virgin brand was born in entertainment and had a long history of leading this space.

"As a proud Australian airline, we’re pleased to see our partnership with Flickerfest continue to grow," he said.

"Virgin Australia provides a stage for talented local filmmakers to share their work and Flickerfest shares a suite of fresh, contemporary, inspiring Australian made films for our guests to enjoy, during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. "Flickerfest is about celebrating our nation’s best filmmaking talent and this partnership gives these filmmakers another opportunity to share these world-class short films," she said.

"It’s a fantastic way to bring Flickerfest to an even greater audience of film lovers."
