The X-Files is back on Ten in 2016

The X-Files will return  to Network Ten in early 2016 as a six-part televsion event series after a 13-year hiatus. 

The series will see the return of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully under the tagline "The truth is still out there".

Mitch Pileggi also returns as Mulder and Scully’s boss, FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, who walks a fine line between loyalty to his investigators and accountability to his superiors.

Despite his demise in the final season of the original series, the Smoking Man is back, played once again by William B. Davis.

New cast members in the revival include Robbie Amell and Joel McHale (Community).

Over the course of its nine-year run, the original The X-Files went from breakout science fiction favourite to massive global hit, collecting 16 Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards. 

It remains one of the longest running and most iconic sci-fi series in network television history.
