Industry & Investment NSW has announced a $4.5 million fund for digital media content projects as part of the government’s digital economy strategy.
The NSW Digital Media Initiative will distribute $1.5 million for three years, starting from 2011, to eligible digital media projects.
Ventures that qualify for funding must be designed for distribution through platforms and devices such as the internet, wireless and mobile.
Funding will be provided for key areas of production including early stage development (maximum $50,000 per project) and marketing and financing (no more than $5000 per company).
The fund is open to webisodes, transmedia projects, virtual words, games and applications.
It does not cover corporate and marketing ventures, business communications or educational products.
Grants above $250,000 will be given to projects with exceptional commercial potential.
Entrants must be registered NSW businesses.
Applications will be assessed by a panel of Screen NSW and Industry & Investment staff as well as industry experts.
Projects will be judged on their potential to contribute to the state economy, commercial viability, originality and on the track record of the creative teams behind the proposals.
