Overview:
The Queensland College of Art (QCA) is one of Australia’s oldest and foremost – Film, Art, and Design Colleges. Incorporating the Griffith Film School, the QCA is a thriving community of filmmakers, animators, games designers, artists, designers, and photographers, and plays a significant role in shaping the state of Queensland and Australia’s creative culture. As a key part of the QCA, the Griffith Film School (GFS) is Australia’s largest film school. The GFS operates in purpose-built premises set within Brisbane’s South Bank cultural precinct. Using world class, state of the art facilities and equipment, the School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research (HDR) study in the disciplines of film-making, animation, and games design. The School brings together disciplines such as 2D and 3D animation and effects, film and television production, multimedia, digital game development and commercialisation.
This is a continuing, full time or part time (50%) position based at the South Bank campus
The Role:
You will contribute to and assist with the development of courses in Editing. You can expect to participate in developing, convening and teaching courses and/or programs both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will also contribute to the scholarly development of the discipline as a researcher and postgraduate supervisor. At Senior Lecturer level, you would be expected to provide leadership of the editing curriculum of our programs at a range of levels.
The Person:
You will have a relevant doctoral qualification, or significant progress towards such qualification and/or equivalent industry experience. You will have demonstrated knowledge of current teaching and learning principles and practices. A track record of industry editing experience and/or critically informed practice-based research is essential. Your research for the university may take the form of cutting edge industry practice as an editor. If appointed at Senior Lecturer level you would be expected to provide mentoring and assistance to colleagues and research students. In this capacity you will offer assistance in achieving: high quality research publications and quality practice-based research outcomes; obtaining competitive grant funding; working closely with industry partners and contributing to the strategic development objectives of the QCA and GFS.
Salary Range:
Lecturer, Level B: $89,357 – $106,114 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $104,548 – $124,154 per annum.
Senior Lecturer, Level C: $109,462 – $126,220 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $128,072 – $147,678 per annum.
