After four years with Malcolm Long at the helm – as Director of the Australian Film Television and Radio School – Sandra Levy will hit the ground running and commence her directorship immediately on July 2.
Malcolm Long’s final day at AFTRS was on Friday, June 22 where he was farewelled by all staff and students.
‘Sandra Levy’s experience and passion for our industry will benefit AFTRS enormously,’ said Mr Peter Ivany, the Chair of AFTRS, on Ms Levy’s recent appointment.
AFTRS is Australia’s premier screen production, broadcasting and digital media training institution with an impressive track record of successful graduates and a global reputation.
Sandra Levy is joining AFTRS at an exciting and dynamic time, and will oversee the relocation of the School’s Sydney headquarters in the first half of 2008, from the current site at North Ryde to a new purpose built facility at Moore Park.
Mr Ivany said AFTRS was entering a new era in its support of the Australian screen production and broadcasting industries which includes the upcoming national rollout of new specialist courses in areas such as screen business skills and digital media production.
Sandra Levy said, ‘The role of AFTRS in selecting and training the new generations of creative and talented people in this industry is paramount. I feel privileged to take on this important and challenging position.’
