Press release from Fuel VFX
Fuel VFX is pleased to announce that Christopher Horvath and Johannes Saam have joined the team.
CHRIS HORVATH has enjoyed an extremely successful career working mostly in technical design and direction, software and pipeline development and in supervisory roles for leading visual effects companies including ILM and Weta. His film credits include AVATAR, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, KING KONG and LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING.
At Fuel, Chris is currently overseeing the redevelopment of the company’s pipeline and technical infrastructure based on the philosophy of ‘agile development’, that is, schedules can be accurately predicted among change and artists and technical staff can work through shot pipelines as a team rather than as individuals.
Chris’s goal in designing Fuel’s new pipeline is to streamline production systems enough so that the company can take on bigger and more complex sequences while keeping overheads down.
As part of this, Chris is migrating Fuel from a Windows based company to Linux and is concurrently leading the CG team through the company’s sequences for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER.
JOHANNES SAAM has quickly garnered a reputation as one of the most gifted young Technical Directors in the industry. At only 26 years of age, Johannes has built an impressive list of feature film credits including LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA’HOOLE, THE SPIRIT, AUSTRALIA, THE RUINS and development work for MAD MAX 4: FURY ROAD.
Johannes is one of the pioneers of the ‘Deep Image’ compositing technology which allows artists to composite their shots in the 3D space, rather than on flat 2D planes.
The new technology has been sending ripples through the industry as it helps to streamline workflow pipelines and is proving particularly beneficial for complex projects.
Johannes brings this experience to Fuel where he is working on pipeline and tool development for the company’s slate of projects, as well as in FX shot production for THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER.
