On Wednesday night, VCA Film and TV announced the award-winners from the 2007 Grad Show currently screening at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. From an exciting crop of talent there were two standout filmmakers who collected several awards.
Jonathan Auf Der Heide won three awards for Hell’s Gate
National Film and Sound Archive Award for best achievement in direction ($1000)
Film Victoria Award for the best Bachelor of Film & Television 3rd year production ($750)
and the Village Roadshow Corporation Award for best graduating student production ($5000)
Robin Geradts-Gill won two awards for Gone to Earth
The VCA Film & TV Award for an outstanding overall BFTV third year student (facilities to the value of $1000)
and the Kodak Award for best achievement in cinematography (stock to the value of $1000)

Shpend Mula for The BBQ – Erwin Rado Memorial Scholarship for Special Achievement – $500
Kitty Green for Spilt – Open Channel Award for the Most Daring and Innovative Production – Use of Open Channel facilities to the value of $1,000
James Curlis for The Stars Down to Earth – Music & Effects Award for Best Achievement in Sound – Use of music & effects facilities to the value of $2,000
Pablo Labanino for 296 Smith Street – Mike Reed & Partners Post Production Award for Best Achievement in Editing – Us of Mike Reed Post-Production facilities to the value of $5,000.
Polly Staniford for Little Wings – Cinema Nova Award for Short Film with Potential for Theatrical Distribution – $1,000 and a screening at the Nova Cinemas
Takuya Suzuki for Winter Peony – Film Victoria Award for Best Graduate Diploma Animation Production – $750
Poppy Shmith for Grind Girls – Film Victoria Award for Best Graduate Diploma Documentary Production – $750
Anna McGrath for Small Change – Film Victoria Award for Best Graduate Diploma Narrative Production – $750
