Press Release
The Adelaide Film Festival is teaming up with the Australian Writer’s Guild to present the INSITE Award, at this year’s Festival.
The INSITE Award will celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding work being produced by AWG writers and will provide an important development opportunity.
The call is now open for AWG members to submit a synopsis and writing sample of an unproduced screenplay. Adelaide Film Festival Director Amanda Duthie will join with AWG representatives to judge the final works, with the winner announced during the Festival, which
runs this year from October 10â€20.
The ultimate winner will meet industry directors and producers with a view to moving the project forward, and onto the screen.
AWG President, writer Jan Sardi (Shine, The Notebook, Mao’s Last Dancer) said today: ““INSITE is one of the premier screenwriting competitions in Australia, with the inaugural winner Cut Snake by Blake Ayshford currently in production under director Tony Ayres. This award
presents an exceptional opportunity for Australian writers in uncovering firstâ€class screenplays that have yet to be produced, and providing industry opportunities for them.”
Amanda Duthie said today: “The INSITE Award really focuses attention on Australian screenwriters and the Film Festival is the perfect setting to establish constructive connections between writers and the creative film community.”
Entries are now open until 5pm on Friday July 26, with further information available at www.awg.com.au.
The Adelaide Film Festival promises to highlight the best of local, Australian and internationally produced films, with an eclectic mix of cinema, television, art and the moving image.
