The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) today announced the appointment of Catherine Bates as International Relations Manager (Incentives).
“We are delighted to have attracted someone with Catherine’s international marketing and brand development skills and networks. She has an extensive career in marketing New Zealand and wide experience in managing the creative and commercial interface on projects” said NZFC CEO Dave Gibson.
Currently contracted at Sport New Zealand as the Director of Leverage and Legacy for the Cricket World Cup and FIFA Under 20s, Catherine began her career at Tourism New Zealand. Whilst there Catherine was involved with the development of the New Zealand destination brand and global 100% Pure New Zealand campaign. Highlights of her career include development of the New Zealand Story and leadership of the NZ Inc Hobbit leverage programme, in particular the NZ Inc relationship with Wingnut Films and Warner Bros Los Angeles.
At the NZFC, Catherine will work alongside Incentives Manager, Naomi Wallwork assisting international productions applying for the New Zealand Screen Production Grant’s additional 5% uplift.
Reporting to Dave Gibson, Catherine will also be responsible for implementing and developing new and innovative ways for accessing the uplift which will bring significant economic benefits for New Zealand and the New Zealand screen industry.
Catherine will commence the role part-time on 7 April while completing her contract with Sport New Zealand. She will primarily be based in Auckland.
