St Kilda embarks on national tour

The St Kilda Film Festival is this month embarking on its national tour of Australia. No state is left un-touched, as the cream-of-the crop in Australian short films screen Australia wide.

The 25th St Kilda Film Festival Regional Tour will run from June to August 2008, featuring the highlights from Australia’s Top 100 short films. The tour will showcase a collection of tales ranging from deathly dramas to light-hearted comedies.

This little taste of the St Kilda Film Festival will surely delight any film connoisseur. Notable films include The Funk, from producer Melanie Coombs of Oscar winning film Harvie Krumpet; Mia Wasikowska (Suburban Mayhem) stars alongside Damon Herriman who won Best Actor at the Festival for Len’s Love Story; straight from competition at the Berlin International Film Festival comes Yolk; and cultural likeness is explored in Wind.

Winner of Best Original score at the Festival this year Eclipse contrasts portraits of people who live on the streets with the natural beauty around them; while My Country looks at the Australian Indigenous experience of an uncle revisiting his painful past to set the story straight.

At each tour destination two sessions of St Kilda Film Festival shorts will screen – among them are some innovative and incredible new filmmaking styles and talents – VCA Film School graduate Michael Kratochvil brings a well crafted tale of trust in the modern world to life in Dearest Sir starring Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell.
