Finn Cragg selected in Pitch 08

Western Australian creative animation and multimedia studio Finn Cragg has been named as a finalist in WA Pitch 08, an event designed to connect innovative business ventures with development capital.

Finn Cragg produces content tailored for education, the arts and the corporate markets. Hundreds of Australian schools, including 25 per cent of WA schools, have already invested in its resources since the launch of Finn Cragg’s first multimedia pack in 2006.

“It is fantastic that we have been selected in the Pitch 08 Top 10, as it demonstrates the value being placed on Australian digital content, as well as innovations in education. We are the only enterprise of this type that has been selected,” said Lyn Hawkins, the Director of Finn Cragg Pty Ltd.

Finn Cragg’s multimedia resources are used to generate cross-curriculum learning in a variety of subject areas including English, media, computing technology, multimedia and languages. In WA alone, it has trained thousands of teachers to create digi-stories, edit short animations and produce digital comics as methods that engage even the most reluctant learners.

Ms Hawkins says Finn Cragg publishes content that is not only engaging but reflects deep values not upheld in much of what children are being exposed to through the media.

“Our animation author, Martin Davidson who is a consummate story teller, currently produces all our digital content; however we are looking to source additional local talent,” she said.

“Martin’s work is not only visually rich, his 3D CGI animations are enlightening and thought provoking. He is a rare creative talent as he develops the animations entirely himself, from story concept development right through to the animation production, editing and soundtrack.”

Finn Cragg is now preparing to ‘pitch’ its ideas at WA Pitch ’08, which will be staged at the State Library on Friday, July 11 from 2-5pm.  The winning business will win a listing on the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board (ASSOB), valued at $40,000.

As one of the 10 short-listed businesses Finn Cragg will also receive business mentoring through ASSOB as well as presentation, pitch training and audio-visual resources.

More information about Finn Cragg is available at its website.
