AIDC’s centrepiece pitching event, the FACTory provides a platform for documentary and factual projects from around Australia and the world. Up to 15 teams are selected to present their work to leading international decision makers, including funders, streamers and broadcasters, as well as key sales agents and distributors.

In 2022, the FACTory will continue to leverage increased access to decision makers enabled by hybrid in-person and online delivery.

Applications are now being accepted for projects including features, singles, and series (limited and returnable) across three strands: Central Showcase, New Talent Showcase, and Rough Cut Showcase.

Project submissions will be assessed by a panel of international experts, including Salma Abdalla, Autlook Filmsales (Austria); Opal H. Bennett, POV (USA); Kenny Brown, IDA – International Documentary Association (USA); Clara Vuillermoz, Les Films du Balibari (France), and Susie Jones, Netflix (Australia).

Entry to the FACTory is competitive, and assessors will consider criteria like originality, marketplace viability, and international appeal.
