Raffles College of Design and Commerce will showcase its wares to prospective students at Open Day on Saturday September 6 from 10am till 2pm. The North Sydney-based college has had an exciting year of change, with two new Heads of Schools appointed, two new Masters degree programs accredited – in Design and Commerce – and exceptional results from students and teachers.
Chat to lecturers, students and staff who are on hand to answer your questions. Have a bite to eat from our sausage sizzle, enjoy the music, watch one of the fabulous DVDs of a Graduation Fashion Show, see displays of student work and have fun with the activities.
WHAT’S ON
12 noon to 12.40pm – "Parent and Student Info Session" Lecture Theatre – Ground floor (Level 4)
Professor Ron Newman, CEO and members of the Raffles College team will fill you in on the latest developments and exciting opportunities for Raffles students. The session includes a student panel and industry guest speakers.
10am to 2pm- "Moving Image: Film direction" – Level 15
Live action in the TV, video & film production studio including the ‘blue screen’.
Digital Media: (Animation, Multimedia Design, Games Design) Level 17
Fun sessions with Maya demo and flash animation short workshops.
Interior Design: Interior Design intrigue – Level 6
Interior design models on display from current students and graduate work. Chat to students and academics about what’s happening in the world of interior design.
Art & Design – your chance to be creative – Level 17
Grab a crayon and fill in your creative space.
Fashion: A ‘passion for fashion – Level 16
Fashion Design talks and displays, see a Fashion DVD showcasing spectacular garments from our Graduation Fashion Show at the Sydney Opera House. Find out more about Fashion marketing.
Photography: Be part of ‘Sin City’! – Level 15
Scenes from “Sin City” – an interactive photographic shoot where you will be invited to take part and become the characters! Raffles students have created a scene based on the film Sin City and visually captured/ created the lighting and atmosphere featured in the film. Student work based on this brief also on display.
Fashion meets Hardware – live fashion shoots.
Youth Culture – multiple live shoots based on the theme “Youth Culture”. Featuring various stages and developments of “Youth Culture” from the 50s through to our present day. See what’s involved in preparing for and carrying out a studio/ location based photographic shoot.
Other displays for open day include the works of notable 2008 graduates Allison Berger (fashion design), Oat Montien (graphic design), Ingrid Sjodahl and James Barnett (photography) among others.
