Animated comedy Get Ace renewed

Production company Galaxy Pop has received a second season pickup for a further 52 episodes of its award-winning animated comedy series Get Ace.

Get Ace season 1 was broadcast on Network Ten’s youth-focused digital channel Eleven. The  series has been a hit with viewers in Australia since its launch, winning ratings in the kids space and becoming one of the networks top performing shows.

Network Ten’s Head of Children’s TV Cherrie Bottger said; “Get Ace is incredibly popular with our young audience. I am delighted it will be returning to Eleven for a brand new season.”

Galaxy Pop's Dina McPherson, who is also head writer and series creator said; "We're thrilled Get Ace has resonated so well with viewers and we're excited to once again produce another season with Cherrie and Network Ten who’ve shown incredible support and commitment to the show."

The comedy toon follows the adventures of hapless geek Ace McDougal who, after being accidentally fitted with a pair of hi-tech super-spy braces, finds himself thrown into a world of espionage and adventure. Season 2 will see Ace and his disagreeable sidekick Hugo embark on new adventures with new villains out to get his super-powered braces.

The first series, which is distributed by 9 Story Media Group, has recently been sold to ABC (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), TVE (Spain), E Junior (UAE), Zoom (Israel).

Get Ace has also recently taken out first prize for Best Animation at the Australian Writers Guild Awards, Best Music for Children's Television at the Screen Music Awards and was most recently nominated for Best Children's Television Series at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.

Production on the second season of Get Ace will start in June 2015.
