Cedar Boys’ director is Reel Deal

Turkish born film director Serhat Caradee is the latest inclusion to the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Reel Deal Short Film Festival guest judging panel. 

An award winning year 2000 graduate from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Serhart is currently in production of his first feature film, the much anticipated Cedar Boys being shot on location in Sydney

Cedar Boys
is a drama starring hot young Aussie actress Rachel Taylor and delves into the lives of Sydney’s Lebanese community. The script for this film won the inaugural Australian Film Commission IndiVision program.
 
Serhat’s previous short films have won numerous Australian and international awards and have been screened at over 40 films festivals world wide. 
 
Serhat joins actor Jay Laga’aia and TV and radio personality Jonathan Coleman as a 2008 guest judge. Iconic actor Bryan Brown heads the panel which is made up of a team of well respected industry professional.  Brown is the festivals patron and also lends his name to the $5,000 Bryan Brown Film Scholarship, one of the events major prizes.
Now in its third year, the Commonwealth Bank Reel Deal Short Film Festival has been created to identify, nurture and develop Australia’s young film makers and help them to become the industry standouts of the future.
 
The Reel Deal Short Film Festival is proudly supported by the Commonwealth Bank, Bankstown City Council, Broken Hill City Council, Revesby Workers Club, Cumberland Newspapers, AFTRS, University of Western Sydney, TVS, Country Link and Daily Press.
