Film Victoria will sponsor 10 Victorian screenwriters or writer-directors to attend MIFF 37ºSouth PostScript & Direct, where they will be able to pitch their feature projects to producers.
The event, held August 5, will see writers meet with key decision makers in a speed dating style event, moving around the room from one 15-minute pitch session to the next. There will also be a more informal networking event held afterwards.
PostScript & Direct is part of the Melbourne International Film Festival’s broader film financing market, 37ºSouth, which sees producers with market-ready feature-length projects to meet with key international film co-financiers.
Film Victoria CEO Caroline Pitcher said: “We’re on the lookout for our next wave of talented Victorian writers with unique ideas and compelling scripts. PostScript & Direct provides all important face time between writers and producers who can elevate a script to the next level.”
MIFF 37ºSouth Market & Accelerator director Mark Woods said: “With producers attending from all over Australia and New Zealand, PostScript&Direct is a unique opportunity for Victorian screenwriters. It provides the perfect platform for them to pitch, network and potentially find the right producer to bring their hard grafted work to life.”
The deadline for applications is 10 am June 12. Guidelines are here.
