Freeview CEO Robin Parkes steps down; replacement needed

Press release from Access Public Relations

Robin Parkes has notified the board she will not be renewing her contract as CEO of Freeview due to expire later this year.

“After three successful years at Freeview she feels it is time to seek a new challenge,” Freeview Chairman Kim Dalton said.

“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding job Robin has done in taking Freeview from an idea and an aspiration to the established and acknowledged consumer and industry brand and operation that it is today," he says.

"The strength and success of the free-to-air platform today is in part as a result of Robin’s work with Freeview. Robin has made an immense contribution to changing the television landscape in Australia forever.”

During Parkes’ tenure as Freeview’s inaugural CEO, the number of free-to-air digital TV channels has grown from five to 16; she has overseen important initiatives including the introduction of the Freeview Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and contributed to 79 per cent of households switching to digital TV.

“I’ve had an amazing three years with Freeview and have loved indulging my passion for TV every day!"

“In under three years, Freeview has gone from being a brand nobody knew, to one which is now a household name that everyone loves,” Parkes said, adding that she was delighted to be leaving the organisation in such good shape.

“I’m now looking forward to my next challenge,” she said.

A search is underway for a replacement.
