The Australian Film Commission (AFC) today released revised guidelines for its newly named practitioner support program – Festival and Distribution Support. The program will be managed by the AFC’s Marketing Branch and complements their existing travel grant program by further supporting the marketing of Australian films.
The new program comprises of two funding strands:
Festival Support offers assistance to filmmakers who have had their film selected into competition at a key international festival and the screening is the film’s world or international premiere. In this instance, funds will be available to produce required marketing and/or screening materials necessary to take advantage of the selection. Funding will be considered for features, shorts and documentaries.
Distribution Support will be available to completed projects that have been substantially produced independently, but have upon completion attracted the interest of an Australian distributor and are now wanting to exploit a specific commercial opportunity such as a theatrical release or DVD release campaign.
Eligible applicants will be able to apply to the AFC for a non-recoupable grant of up to $20 000. Funding will be available for marketing materials such as trailers, prints/dubs, audio enhancements, dubbing/subtitling, publicity materials, international advertising and web campaigns.
Clear eligibility and selection criteria are detailed in the new Festival and Distribution Support Guidelines. Full guidelines, assessment processes and procedures and application forms can be found at: http://afc.gov.au/funding/marketing/festdist/default.aspx
