Wayne Borg is the new managing director of the Fox Studios, replacing Nancy Romano who departed at the end of last year.
The Australian-born Borg spent the last six years as chief commercial officer and president international of Abu Dhabi- based twofour54, a government-owned body whose remit is to create a regional creative media industry hub.
He had oversight of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and Media Summit, Tropfest Arabia, the training academy and production and broadcast facilities.
The media zone in the United Arab Emirates’ city houses more than 160 companies including CNN, the BBC, Fox International Channels and Cartoon Network.
He stepped down last December to return to Sydney. Previously he was executive VP for Universal Pictures International (UPI), the London-based international division of Universal Pictures, responsible for the studio’s commercial and local content development outside North America.
He joined UPI in 2000 as MD for Australia/NZ and was promoted to VP for Latin America and Asia Pacific in 2003, based in London.
