Press release from Revelation Perth International Film Festival
The Revelation Perth International Film Festival announces its 2011 talks and panels ‘ideas market’, RevCon, will be almost entirely free of charge.
The most unique film festival in Australia has announced its 2011 RevCon program, and is offering most of the available talks and panels for no cost to participants over the two weekends of the festival (14-24 July).
Designed to engage the critical and creative sectors with issues, approaches and perspectives that examine international independent practice, RevCon is an 'ideas market' that brings together a range of high level industry participants from the creative, cultural and business sectors.
RevCon offers filmmakers the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most progressive independent directors, producers and writers who make up this year’s guest contingent.
On Saturday 16 July, ABC TV’s Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton join with Variety journalist and firm producer and curate, Richard Kuipers, to discuss the cultural significance of cinema.
Writer, director and producer of Radio Free Albemuth, John Alan Simon, will also present a session on the processes of adapting one of science fiction’s most beloved cult novels for the screen.
The second weekend of RevCon offers in-depth looks at the state of the independent and Australian film industries as well as the challenges involved with plunderphonics filmmaking.
All RevCon sessions will be held at The Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley.
