Glendyn Ivin’s Last Ride will open in the US on 5 July to be released through leading independent distributor Music Box Films it was announced today.
With outstanding reviews and festival recognition, Last Ride tells of a desperate father (Hugo Weaving) and his 10 year old son (Tom Russell) who are on the run from the law. Their journey into the ravishing beauty of the Australian desert and the human heart, pits them against the elements and each other.
Following its premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival, the film received its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival screening as part of the Discovery Series which showcases provocative feature films for new and emerging filmmakers.
The film has since screened at numerous film festivals the world over including in competition at the Rome International Film Festival, Middle East International Film Festival, Vladivostok, Shanghai International Film Festival and was the Opening Night film at MOMA's presentation in New York of "Adelaide Produces", a salute to the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund.
Released in Australia in 2009 by Madman and produced by Antonia Barnard and Nicholas Cole, Last Ride is a Talk Films production made with the assistance of The Film Finance Corporation, South Australian Film Corporation and the Adelaide Film Festival and private investment.
