Sony Introduces Four New OLED Displays

Sony is once again re-defining professional master monitoring technology with its introduction of four new OLED displays. The new, reference-grade BVM-E Series – the 25-inch BVM-E250 and 17-inch BVM-E170 – incorporate groundbreaking processing and imaging capabilities designed to give digital production specialists a true replacement for CRT in critical evaluation applications. The PVM series, for professional video production, comes in two sizes (the 25-inch PVM-2541 and 17-inch PVM-1741) and enables users an affordable entry point to the breakthrough technology, for applications where visual performance and accuracy are paramount.

The OLED monitors, lining up under the new TRIMASTER EL banner, also feature the advantages of Sony’s unique “Super Top Emission” (STE) technology. The result is high light efficiency, high colour purity, high contrast and high reliability. Sony’s TRIMASTER™ technology has been further refined with the new electro-luminescence displays, expanding the capabilities of the highly successful TRIMASTER line-up. Sony’s OLED technology maximises the full performance capabilities of professional flat-panel displays to deliver higher levels of colour accuracy and colour reproduction, precision imaging and consistent picture quality, coupled with the most accurate black levels ever seen in monitors.

The BVM-E and PVM series also offers input versatility. Standard inputs include 3G/HD/SD-SDI, HDMI and a DisplayPort input. Four option slots are also available on the BVM-E with a choice of six BKM input board options. Other features of the BVM-E series include ability to load custom Look Up Tables (LUTs), HD frame capture, pixel zoom and P&P (Side by Side, Butterfly, Wipe, Blending). Finally, the monitors’ OLED technology is environmentally friendly, with less power consumption, lower weight and no environmental pollutants produced. The PVM retains some of these features but also adds options like Waveform and Audio Level Meter.

The monitors also have a new chassis design, with a refined black aluminium body, and lighter and slimmer chassis, which puts a larger displayed image in a smaller footprint.
