BEING VENICE, the feature film debut from writer/director Miro Bilbrough, will have its International Premiere at the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg in Germany in November.
BEING VENICE will screen in the International Competition section up against films from around the world including Canada, Poland, Morocco, US, UK, Mexico, Sweden, Belgium, France, India, Italy, Estonia, Iran, China, The Netherlands, Mongolia, Chile, Argentina and Taiwan
“This is a Festival with a wonderful program of international films and is renowned for backing filmmakers who take risks and have an alternative voice. The Festival’s focus has always been to program debut features from talented auteur directors and it has helped launched the careers of directors such as Wim Wenders, Thomas Vintnerberg, Jim Jarmusch, Ramin Bahrani , Bryan Singer, and Atom Egoyan amongst others. Miro and I are incredibly proud that BEING VENICE has been selected,” said producer Karen Radzyner.
Miro Bilbrough will be travelling to Mannheim-Heidelberg for the Festival.
Karen Radzyner produced BEING VENICE with Michael Wrenn. The film stars Alice McConnell, Garry McDonald, Simone Stone and Katie Wall.
BEING VENICE, which also screened at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals, will be released in Australia by Curious Distribution in the coming months.
A touching and wryly humorous drama, BEING VENICE tells of Venice (Alice McConnell), a poet with a penchant for jotting words on sticky notes and picking the wrong guy, and her relationship with her emotionally and physically distant father, played by Garry McDonald.
