Press release from Australians in Film Ambassador Heath Ledger scholarship
The Australians in Film Ambassador Heath Ledger scholarship 2010 has been established to capture Heath’s generous spirit and serve our mission to help and celebrate Australian actors.
The Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship will provide talented Australian actors in the early stage of their careers the chance to travel to the US to further their training and international acting opportunities.
"We as a family are pleased with the establishment and progress of the AIF scholarship award named in honor of our much loved and generous son, Heath. As a result of this scholarship, a talented Australian actor will gain valuable assistance to support their personal goals, and an opportunity for recognition in the very tough US film industry." – Kim Ledger.
"Broke Aussie actors in LA form a tradition that goes all the way back to Errol Flynn, Heath was definitely part of that tradition and this scholarship is something he would have been proud to have his name associated with." – Gregor Jordan.
"It’s given me a real freedom to attack LA, knowing I’m not going broke, like I usually do, being here. A scholarship in Heath’s name is always going to get attention, he was a magnetic, unique artist. Being in this situation compels a sense of fearlessness in me. It is an honour to be the first guy in this situation."- Oliver Ackland, 2009 Scholarship Winner.
