TPL announces incentive schemes

Press release from The Post Lounge

The Post Lounge is showing its dedication to filmmakers with the release of the exciting Incentives and Investment Schemes which support practitioners in getting their productions to screen.

“In an environment where budgets are becoming tighter, The Post Lounge has developed a pro-active, supportive program which assists filmmakers by way of rebates and investment” said Managing Director Steve Cooper.

The Post Lounge has developed two different schemes to assist filmmakers with post production for their film or television projects. The schemes are open all year round and we invite filmmakers to contact us about options for their production and in some instances the two schemes will be able to work in conjunction with each other.

The Incentives scheme is a rebate system designed to assist Australian productions as well as encouraging international productions to complete their post production in Queensland. With the minimum spend requirements of the Federal Government's PDV (Post, Digital and Visual Effects) offset being so high it often leaves lower budget productions with little assistance.

The Post Lounge Incentives Scheme will bridge this gap for filmmakers with the minimum qualifying spend being $100,000 (AUD) on post production with the rebate equating to 10%. This scheme is open all year round.

The Investment scheme will assist filmmakers in creating high quality productions in the areas of feature films, television drama, children’s film and television, documentary and short film. This scheme is open to all Australian producers and production teams. It is based on a $1 investment for every $2 spent on qualifying post production. This equates to a 33% investment. The Investment scheme is open to experienced and emerging producers.

A once-a-year short film round will also be offered through the Investment scheme with $20,000 of qualifying post production offered. Applications are due by 1st July each year.

“The Post Lounge loves supporting filmmakers and in the current climate we want to do everything we can to ensure amazing film and television is being created. We believe in the importance of great quality production and post production and are willing to put our money where our mouth is” said Steve Cooper.

The first production to utilise the Investment Scheme is Jucy produced by Kelly Chapman and directed by Louise Alston. The locally shot feature film is currently in post production.
