Aus agency wins 3D signage deal

In June 2010, international 3D display distributors JEA Technologies and Sydney-based Digital Pulse signed a strategic agreement to offer a comprehensive glasses-free 3D digital signage solution covering hardware supply, installation, support and content development.

This is the first such agreement for this new technology in Australia and provides a nationwide solution for companies considering glasses-free 3D displays for their digital signage networks.

JEA Technologies is the Australian and New Zealand distributor for Magnetic3D displays with Enabl3D technology.

Magnetic3D has been working closely with Digital Pulse’s content creation team who are the first Magnetic3D certified content provider in Australia.

Brett Heil, Managing Director of content creation studio Digital Pulse said the release of Avatar last year prompted a tremendous surge in enquiries.

“Clients are looking to develop 3D content and build their brand association using surreal images and experiences. Major corporations are actively looking toward producing 3D content for both internal and external communications.

“It’s easy to understand this enthusiasm as digital signage is a very exciting marketing format, more capable of grabbing attention and delivering a product message than any other tool in a public environment.”

Mr Heil warned that while the marketing industry is racing to adopt and leverage the benefits of 3D glasses-free digital signage the key to maximising the potential of the new technology lies in the quality of content.

“‘Content is king’ and 3D displays require a complete rethink on how information is presented in order to attract and engage viewers. We’re exploring ways to exploit brand opportunities being offered through our glasses-free displays.

“This format has the unique ability to connect with the audience directly and intimately. Creating content for this format requires a superior level of technological infrastructure, talent and experience to render out the vast number of files required.

“Content creators must understand the parameters of the technology to ensure the brand is delivered in a high quality and impactful manner,” he said.
Digital Pulse has 15 years of experience producing high quality content, including the creation of 3D Stereo content and editing a weekly highlights package for the 3D TV trial transmission of the coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and NRL State of Origin series.

“We’ve invested heavily in the advanced technological infrastructure required to deliver superior content for the 3D glasses-free format. Unless you have this capability in production the outcome and impact will most certainly be less effective.

“Perhaps most importantly, we believe the quality of the new lenticular lenses is now at such a level that clients will be ready to adopt the technology,” said Mr Heil.
