Cutting Edge – Australian Export Awards finalist

Cutting Edge is a national finalist in the arts, entertainment and design category of the 2007 Australian Export Awards after winning its State-based Award.

Established in 1992, Cutting Edge has grown from three employees to more than 520 making it the largest post production facility in Queensland.

And today, with two facilities in Sydney and another in Darwin, Cutting Edge is internationally recognised as one of the most dynamic and diversified post production facilities in the world.

Cutting Edge has taken its place on the world stage of arts and entertainment working on international productions and continually markets its animation, special effects, editing, compositing, telecine and sound design services overseas.

The company’s strategy for continuous reinvestment in new technologies, facilities, staff and market research has resulted in remarkable export growth. Cutting Edge regularly works on international productions and it is also a preferred supplier to Granada Productions and provides outside broadcast services to Fox Sports. This extraordinary export growth is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of its young, vibrant management team.

The Australian Export Awards are co-presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and have invaluable support from sponsors. Austrade sponsors the Arts, Design and Entertainment Award category in which Cutting Edge is a finalist competing among six companies.

Austrade CEO, Peter O’Byrne, said that 79 companies from across Australia had been selected as finalists in the Australian Export Awards from 451 entrants.

‘The 79 businesses that are finalists in the 2007 Australian Export Awards in the last financial year generated export earnings worth $11.6 billion and directly employed more than 38,500 Australians,’ Mr O’Byrne said.

‘Selecting 12 category Export Award winners, as well as the overall DHL Australian Exporter of the Year, from such a quality field is a demanding task. It is a challenge we are fortunate to face because of the significant contribution these companies make to Australia’s international business profile and to the prosperity and living standards all Australians enjoy,’ he said.

The Australian Export Awards are now in its 45th year and are acknowledged by the business community as the most prestigious industry awards recognising and rewarding excellence and innovation in exporting. The Australian Export Award winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation in Brisbane on 22 November 2007.
