Gulliver Media Australia’s documentary about a coral-eating starfish on the Great Barrier Reef has been selected as a finalist in a European film festival featuring only underwater films.
The High Definition doco titled The Crown of Thorns Starfish – the Monster from the Shallows (COTS) will be shown at the North Sea Film Festival for Underwater Films (http://www.northseafilmfestival.com/).
Producer Larry Zetlin said that it was gratifying that the doco was selected from a international field of 80 films submitted.
‘The doco features the spectacular underwater camera work of Emmy Award DOP David Hannan, and clearly demonstrates that Australian docos are up there with the best in the world,’ Larry said.
The doco was produced in 2005 and continues to win praise, and prizes, since it was first released and has received a dozen awards so far.
The festival venue is at the Museon, the Hague, Netherlands and runs from November 30 to December 2, 2007.
