National Geographic Channel wins at PromaxBDA Awards

Press release from National Geographic

National Geographic Channel Australia brought home three gold statues and a silver from the 2011 PromaxBDA Awards. Held in New York City late last week, the awards honour the most outstanding promotion, marketing and design work in the global broadcast media industry.

The Australian communications campaign for the seven-part wildlife documentary series Great Migrations, which premiered on National Geographic Channel in November 2010, was awarded the World Gold for PR Campaign of the Year. This is the first year the category has been included in the awards.

National Geographic Channel also won Gold for Great Migrations in the Promos At The Movies category, while Nat Geo Wild picked up Gold in the Interstitial/”Promo-Tainment” category for Animal Encounters featuring local host Ben Britton.

In the Trade Print Ad category, the Channel received Silver for its Six Pack creative. It was in good company, with other National Geographic Channels from around the world picking up Gold and Bronze.

Said Karin Simoncini, Managing Director of National Geographic Channel Australia, of the wins, “I am extremely proud of my team. The creativity and passion they brought to these campaigns reflect the way National Geographic Channel in Australia excels in producing quality content and in engaging audiences. This level of international recognition is incredibly gratifying and gives us the impetus to continue producing more great work.”
