Press release from Lebanese Film Festival
The Lebanese Film Festival (LFF) has been granted 10 000 dollars from Bankstown City Council.
As part of the Community Grants Program, Council’s support will go towards establishing the festival, which will be primarily based in Bankstown (Sydney, Australia).
The cheque was presented to LFF members at Council Chambers as part of the Community Grants ceremony, today.
Director of the LFF Association, Camille Lattouf says “The support of Bankstown Council will assist us in enhancing the cultural life of Bankstown and ensuring our event is based in the area.”
“There has been strong government, business and film industry interest in the event and we look forward to building a film festival that supports local business, the Lebanese film industry as well as charitable organisations”
Set to take place in August 2012, the festival aims to attract audiences from all over to Bankstown as well as showcase Lebanese arts and culture through film.
“Bankstown Mayor, Khal Asfour says “I think it is important that these projects will be implemented by a variety of local organisations… all fantastic members of the Bankstown Community, all delivering and providing services for our residents and Council intends not only meet the practical needs but to enrich the social and cultural life within our city.”
