The screen industry’s flagship event, the SPAA Conference, which annually attracts over 600 media and industry professionals, will this year be held at Melbourne’s Crown Conference Centre from Monday, 18 November to Thursday, 21 November.
The conference offers the ultimate networking event for screen professionals across all sectors of the media and entertainment industry in Australasia. Delegates, who include film and television producers and executives, content creators and games developers, sales agents and financiers, games and interactive companies and government funding executives, will have unparalleled access not only to each other, but innovative thinkers and inspiring industry leaders from Australia and around the world.
This year marks the first conference under the new Executive Director Matthew Deaner and the conference organiser, Marketing & Communications Manager, Rachelle Gibson.
“Under a new conference advisory and executive team, and following an industry-wide survey undertaken earlier this year, the conference program will have something for all sectors in the production community across TV drama, reality, factual, light entertainment, kids TV, documentaries, feature films, interactive and games, and branded entertainment”. Said Executive Director, Matthew Deaner.
Speakers will share their expertise on the themes of “Opportunities for Connection, Creativity and Growth” for screen businesses and practitioners and the 2013 conference will broadly follow three streams: Partnerships, Monetisation and Craft. This year the conference team have selected a name for the 2013 SPAA Conference entitled: Screen Forever.
“The conference name is a representation of the collective of passionate and hardworking professionals and businesses who make and deliver content for all screens and all types of audiences,” said Executive Director Matthew Deaner. “The industry is experiencing an evolution in the way we consume and deliver media and entertainment. Screen Forever represents the future opportunities for growth for our industry. The decision to create a name for this event was inspired by some of the leading screen industry conferences around the world such as South by South West, the PGA’s Produced By Conference and the Canadian Media & Producers Association Primetime Ottawa”.
The first two days of the conference will feature keynote addresses, future focused sessions and interviews, craft masterclasses, an international partnership market and a TV pitching market. There will also be a dedicated Meet the Buyer stream and numerous social events. The final day will be devoted to a series of professional development workshops. Confirmation of keynote speakers and further information on conference highlights will be revealed in the coming months.
