The Bank of Sydney Lebanese Film Festival (LFF) has announced the program for the event set to kick off in the heart of Bankstown on Friday August 23.
The festival will run for 16 days with the opening night to be at the Bankstown Arts Centre followed by screenings at Hoyts Cinemas in Bankstown and the
Entertainment Quarter (Fox Studios) until September 8.
The festival will showcase features, documentaries, short films and an animation and touch on themes such as the Lebanese Civil War, sexuality, pop culture, politics, and issues in contemporary Lebanon amongst others.
LFF Director, Mr Camille Lattouf says, “The 36 films we have this year will appeal to a wide audience and really showcase the diversity and talent of Lebanese Cinema and Lebanese film makers across the globe. We are pleased to be screening a number of films by non-Lebanese film makers that focus on Lebanon and contemporary Lebanese issues.” The festival will finish off with a pop up hommus bar at Hoyts Bankstown with the
screening of ‘Make Hommus Not War’, directed by Australian film maker, Trevor Graham.
Two other films, ’50-50’ and ‘The Shed’, directed by Australian film maker Megan Riakhos will also be screened.
Now in its second edition, the event has received continued support from Bankstown City Council.
