The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) announced that it will undertake an independent review of its support for entry-level talent development in South Australia.
The review has been directly commissioned by the SAFC Board and will be overseen by independent media consultant Simon Molloy of Systems Knowledge Concepts (SKC). It will involve direct consultation with key industry stakeholders and invite public submissions from industry practitioners.
In announcing the review SAFC Chairman Judy Potter noted that the recent decision by Screen Australia to cease its funding of the Media Resource Centre (MRC) at the end of 2015 had prompted the SAFC Board to commission a comprehensive review of its entry-level funding programs.
“The SAFC remains committed to supporting entry-level practitioners, but the industry has changed markedly in terms of technology, structure and development practice over the past decade. The recent decision by Screen Australia means that it is critical that we step back and review our current programs, identify where they have been most effective and determine whether there are new or better ways to support this sector of the industry in the future.”
“The SAFC is particularly keen to hear views from industry about the most effective deployment of the SAFC’s resources in this space.”
The deadline for industry submissions will be COB 20 February 2015.The SAFC will consider the recommendations of this review at its May 2015 Board meeting.
