Sharmill Films is delighted to announce its acquisition of three new titles at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The Measure of a Man (in competition) directed by Stepháne Brizé (Mademoiselle Chambon), is a “powerfully affecting” French drama with “sharp and devastating force” (Variety). Vincent Lindon stars in an “all-consuming lead performance” (Hollywood Reporter) for which Cannes awarded him the coveted Best Actor award.
Louder Than Bombs (in competition) heralds the English language debut of Norwegian director Joachim Trier, whose Oslo, August 31st wowed critics and audiences in 2011. An “intriguing…ambitious” story of family dysfunction (Variety), the cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Gabriel Byrne, Isabelle Huppert and David Strathairn.
Our Last Tango is a moving documentary about the world of tango dancing in Buenos Aires. Directed by German Kral and executive produced by Wim Wenders (Pina), the film intertwines interviews, documentary footage and beautifully shot choreographies to bring the tango world to life.
Also coming later this year from Sharmill Films is London Road, based on the hugely successful National Theatre play, slated for Australian release on 24 September.
