Filmmaking Intensive (5 day)
In this five day filmmaking intensive, you'll get busy in the AFTRS state-of-the-art studio to take a class selected short film script to screen. Experienced industry filmmakers will guide you with lectures and fast paced practical exercises to conquer the major areas of directing, cinematography, and post production.

The Six Week Doco School – NEW

Looking to get serious about your feature length documentary idea in 2016?  AFI nominated producer Dylan Blowen (The Snowman, A Northern Town) will guide you from concept to pitch, with lectures, peer reviews and practical exercises to guide your feature documentary (60 min+) idea to the cusp of pre-production.

SCREENWRITING

Understanding Narrative Masterclass with Ian David (5 day) – NEW
Learning the guiding principles of a good story is vital for filmmakers who want to engage with an audience. Learning the means to unravel the role of emotion in creating stories that are compelling is, for writers, the difference between success and failure. There will always be a "buyer" for a good story if you know what that story is, why it connects with audience and how best to tell it. This course will explore and explain the foundations of narrative and the critical relationship between character and structure for both film and television.

Videomaking 101: Shoot Edit Publish (5 day)
Do you – or your staff – want to shoot, edit and upload your own short videos for your corporate website, social media marketing or just for your own interest?  Then this course is for you. Two different start dates are available.

TV Shooter Producer Intensive (5 day)
Anyone entering the TV industry now needs to be able to "do it all". It's essential to be able to use a camera competently and this five-day course will give you the confidence and skills to say "I can do that". This is a five-day version of our popular TV Shooter/Producer course, which also includes lighting tuition and more location practical.

TV Editing Intensive (10 day) – NEW
This ten day Intensive course (delivered over two consecutive weeks Mon – Fri) will combine technical training in the use of Avid Media Composer, the non-linear film/video editing application used extensively in most television productions, with an introduction to the creative art of editing for television and practical, hands-on exercises. Students will have the opportunity to get Avid User Certification within this course.

SCREEN DESIGN

Prop Making & Scenic Art Intensive (5 day) – NEW
Are you interested in learning the practical skills required for Scenic Art/ Set Finishing Techniques and Prop Making for film or television productions? In this course you'll create a set/scenic piece and prop (or props) based on a specific design "inspiration" and take away photos of your work, shot in a studio on day five of the course.

Are you interested in Production Design and want to learn how to go about pursuing it as a career?
